Here at Go Auto, we take great pride in the early progress we've made and our ongoing efforts to pave the way for a greener future.
In 2021, we embarked on our inaugural sustainability measurement and reporting process, marking the beginning of a transparent evaluation of our environmental footprint. Through this initiative, we established a valuable partnership with Green Economy Canada, a prominent organization dedicated to fostering sustainability among local businesses.
We're actively pursuing various initiatives to realize this ambitious goal. Here's a glimpse of what we've achieved and what lies ahead:
- Investment in Electrification: We're electrifying our entire dealership network, significantly reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
- EV Charging Infrastructure: With over 100 EV charging stations installed at 44 facilities, we're making sustainable transportation more accessible.
- LED Lighting Overhaul: Across our 60+ locations, we're transitioning to low-power LED lighting systems and implementing automated management, resulting in substantial reductions in energy consumption.
- Water Conservation: Innovative solutions in our wash bays minimize water usage, contributing to broader conservation efforts.
- Infrastructure for Solar Panels: We're laying the groundwork for integrating renewable energy sources by providing infrastructure for future solar panel installations.
In 2022, our total greenhouse gas emissions amounted to 29,573 tCO2e, representing a slight decrease of 0.3% from our base year of 2021. Since transitioning to LED lighting, we've observed a notable 7% decrease in electricity emissions, underscoring the positive impact of our operational upgrades.
