How Our Dealerships are Going Green to Create a Sustainable Future

Here at Go Auto, our dealerships are committed to implementing eco-friendly practices across our network in alignment with global efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainability. Partnering with Green Economy Canada, we have taken significant strides in reducing our environmental footprint and enhancing our sustainability measures.

Electrification of Our Dealership Network

Understanding the importance of transitioning from fossil fuels, we have begun electrifying our facilities. This pivotal move reduces our dependence on non-renewable energy sources and prepares us for a future dominated by electric vehicles (EVs).

Expanding EV Charging Infrastructure

To bolster the adoption of electric vehicles and make sustainable transportation accessible, we've installed over 100 EV charging stations across 44 of our facilities. This extensive network serves our customers and encourages the community to consider EVs as a viable option for their transportation needs.

Energy Efficiency Upgrades

One key step we've taken is upgrading to low-power LED lighting across more than 60 locations. This transition has resulted in substantial energy savings and reduced greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with our goal of reducing environmental impact.

Water Conservation Efforts

Water conservation is a priority in our pursuit of sustainability. Our wash bays have been equipped with water-saving solutions to minimize water usage significantly. This helps preserve a crucial natural resource and reduces our operational costs.

Preparing for Solar Energy

Looking ahead, we are setting the stage for future solar panel installations. By preparing our infrastructure now, we aim to leverage solar energy, reduce our carbon footprint, and promote renewable energy use within our operations.

Impact and Progress

Our efforts are reflected in our latest Greenhouse Gas Inventory report prepared by Green Economy Canada. In 2022, our total emissions slightly decreased by 0.3% from our base year 2021, demonstrating a positive trend in our environmental impact management. Notably, our fleet, which remains our largest emission source, is an area where we continue to seek improvements and innovations in sustainability.

Last year, Drayton Valley Toyota was the least energy-intensive facility in our network, which provides a benchmark for energy efficiency practices that can be implemented across other locations. Meanwhile, we are also examining more energy-intensive facilities, like Aurora Ford Hay River, to identify significant opportunities for emission reductions.

Call to action

Looking Forward

As we move forward, we are actively working on setting ambitious GHG reduction targets for 2025 and 2035. Our approach includes prioritizing actions that can lead to significant reductions, such as transitioning to electric heating systems and optimizing our fleet management to reduce fuel usage.

Through these initiatives, we are transforming our business operations and contributing to a more sustainable future. By embracing green practices, we can make a meaningful difference in the automotive industry and help pave the way towards a more sustainable world. As we steer towards a greener horizon, join us in the drive for a sustainable future; find your next vehicle here.
