Honda Canada was founded in 1962, when the company started manufacturing motorcycles and power equipment. Then, in 1973, they launched the game-changing Honda Civic. It was a fuel-efficient subcompact car, created in response to the oil crisis. It was the first car to feature Honda’s revolutionary CVCC engine, making the Civic the first car to ever pass tough emissions testing without a catalytic converter. It’s been the best-selling vehicle in Canada ever since.
In 1986, Honda opened its first facility in Canada (and the first auto manufacturing plant by a Japanese company in this country). It was used to build the Honda Accord. Two years later, the three-door Civic was built at this same plant, and it became the main source of the three-door Civic across North America.
By 1991, Honda had sold more than 1 million vehicles in Canada. Six years later, the 1 millionth Honda built in Canada rolled off the line. Thanks to their success, a second facility was built (both were now in Alliston, Ontario) and used to manufacture Honda’s first-ever minivan, the Honda Odyssey. In 2002, production expanded once again as the new Honda Pilot was introduced, and in 2005, they received the exclusive contract to build the world’s first in-bed truck, the Honda Ridgeline.
In 2008, Honda Canada doubled down on their commitment to the environment by building yet another facility in Alliston, Ontario. This facility produces four-cylinder engines using molten aluminum made from 100% recycled scrap. The next year, Honda was named one of Canada’s 50 Most Socially Responsible Companies.
In 2011, the Honda CR-V was added to the production line, making Honda’s two best-selling vehicles—the Civic and the CR-V—manufactured for Canadians by Canadians. By 2014, Honda invested nearly a billion dollars in the Alliston Civic plant to make it the global lead plant for the 10th generation Civic. In 2017, Honda Canada announced that it had built more than 8 million vehicles in Canada, largely due to the fact that the Civic has been the best-selling vehicle in Canada for 21 straight years.
Production of the Pilot, Odyssey, and Ridgeline has since been moved to Alabama. However, Honda still produces the Civic and the CR-V in Canada. The complete Honda line includes the HR-V, Accord, Fit, Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline, Insight, Clarity, and Civic Type-R.
Honda Canada currently operates more than 230 auto dealerships across the country, with more than 600 dealerships selling motorcycles and power equipment.
Honda Canada Finance was created in 1987 to help Canadian drivers find affordable financing and leasing options. With competitive rates and flexible terms, the goal is to make it easier for new Canadians and low credit (or no credit) customers to find realistic financing options.
Getting approved for a loan through Honda Canada Finance makes sense for people who prefer to own their vehicles outright. Also, if you’re wary of paying lease-end penalties, you should consider financing your first option.
The Benefits of Financing Your Vehicle
Things to Think About
If you don’t mind not owning your vehicle and would rather drive a brand new vehicle every few years, then leasing is a great option for you. You’ll also have cheaper payments because with leasing you only pay for the amount the vehicle depreciates in the two-to-four years you’d be leasing it, whereas with financing you are paying for the entire cost of the car (albeit over a longer period of time, usually).
The Benefits of LEASING Your Vehicle
Things to Think About
Honda Canada Finance also specializes in getting recent graduates (with not as much credit history or job experience) into vehicles through financing and leasing.
As long as the customer doesn’t have a bad credit history (not paying bills, going to collections, etc.) and can provide verifiable proof of full-time income, most university students can qualify. The student must have completed a 3- or 4-year university program, a 2- or 3-year nursing program, a 2-year (minimum) community college program, or police/military school, and have graduated within the last 12 months.
Best of all, with Honda Canada’s Graduate Program, no down payment is required!

Parts You Can Rely On
Honda Canada Parts are manufactured to strict, specific standards. They fit perfectly; they perform precisely. When you buy parts from Honda Canada you can count on high quality parts from Honda’s very own engineers.
Reliable Honda Parts
Remember that each part is designed to work with other specific parts. So, replacing just one part with an insufficient alternative can have an effect on the whole system, not just that part. Many non-genuine parts claim to be reliable, but since they weren’t designed to all work together, they can’t possibly meet Honda’s manufacturing standards.
Performance, Not Compromise
Never compromise your performance or safety. With Honda Parts Canada, you get parts that are meticulously tested at a national facility. This ensures that each part functions at peak performance for years.
Getting your Honda vehicle serviced at a Honda dealership should be a no brainer. They have state-of-the-art facilities, the latest/greatest equipment, and Honda-trained certified technicians whose whole job consists of fixing problems with vehicles *exactly* like yours. They know what’s best for your vehicle because they’ve seen it all before. Many, many times. If you want true peace of mind with your Honda, service it at a Honda dealership.
Certified Techs
Honda technicians are constantly kept up-to-date with evolving technology through Honda’s ongoing training programs. Jo Schmo down the block might have learned how to fix a car 20 years ago, but when did he learn how to fix all the new technology that Honda is pumping out each and every year? Honda’s techs receive challenging, hands-on training. “Good enough” isn’t, at Honda. Their techs need to be great.
Express Service
Most Honda dealerships in Canada also provide express service. This means you get friendly, convenient service with no appointment needed! So, it’s the best of both worlds: the speed you get with a smaller shop, but with the quality of a trusted and certified Honda professional. Plus, genuine Honda Canada Parts. With Honda’s competitive prices, this kind of value is hard to beat.
If you need collision repair for your vehicle, try a Honda autobody centre. They provide collision repair, dent removal, lease return repairs, hail damage repair, glass replacement, scratch repair, and more! Some dealerships (like Edmonton’s Go Honda) provide free estimates, too.
Repairs done by certified techs and often backed by a lifetime guarantee. Your Honda will be delivered back to you in factory condition, including crumple zones and frame damage.
Honda Canada technicians are able to remove dents and dings without damaging the finish through Paintless Dent Removal. It’s fast, effective, and inexpensive.
When you return your lease, you can get nailed with fees for what seem like relatively minor damages. These damages are easy to miss for most people. Luckily for you, we know what to look for.
We can repair hail damage with hammering, filling, or repainting your vehicle. Through Paintless Dent Repair we can pop out those dents in a timely manner without messing up the original paint.
Honda body shops are able to provide high quality, original manufacturer replacement glass.
A scratch isn’t always just a scratch. If that scratch oxidizes, the sheet metal underneath can rust and rot, leading to more expensive repairs. Honda’s techs can repair these scratches on sheet metal, fiberglass, or plastic trim.
